Boys’ Squad for 2026 CFU Challenge Series Set

The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has officially announced its final 20-player squad for the 2026 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-14 Boys Challenge Series, following months of preparation under the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS).
The selected squad features a blend of talented young footballers from Guyana, the United
States of America, and England, who will represent the Golden Arrowhead when the
tournament kicks off this August in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Led by Head Coach Jamal Pedro, Guyana will compete in Tier II, Group C, opening its
campaign against Montserrat on Sunday, August 16, before facing Anguilla on Monday,
August 17, and The Bahamas on Wednesday, August 19.
The squad’s selection follows four months of intensive preparation through the FIFA Talent
Development Scheme, a long-term initiative designed to identify, develop, and prepare the
country’s most promising young footballers for regional and international competition.
The programme forms part of FIFA’s global strategy to ensure that every talented player has
access to a structured development pathway. In Guyana, the TDS brings together the nation’s
top boys and girls for year-round training under the supervision of the GFF’s National
Coaches Pool.
The programme currently comprises a core group of approximately 24 players, supported by
a wider training pool of around 30. While most participants are drawn from the coastal
regions, the programme also provides regular opportunities for talented players from the
hinterland and other parts of the country to be identified, integrated, and developed within the
national pathway.

GFF President Wayne Forde commended the commitment shown by the players and coaching
staff throughout the preparation period and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to
represent Guyana with pride on the regional stage.
“I’m incredibly proud of the work being done by Technical Director Mr. Bryan Joseph and
his coaching staff. It is also encouraging to see the significant impact the FIFA Talent
Development Scheme has had on the preparation of these young men. For many of them, this
will be their first opportunity to represent Guyana, and we expect them to uphold the highest
standards of professionalism, discipline, and respect for the game.
On behalf of the Guyana Football Federation Council, I wish them every success as they
continue their preparations and go on to represent our country at the 2026 CFU Under-14
Boys Challenge Series,” Forde said.
The GFF extends its congratulations to every player selected to represent the nation and
commends all those who participated in the Talent Development Scheme throughout the
selection process. The Federation also acknowledges Coach Jamal Pedro, who will make his
inaugural appearance on national duty as a Head Coach. As one of the rapidly emerging
coaches within our National Coaches Pool, Pedro has demonstrated tremendous commitment
to youth development, and the Federation wishes him every success as he leads the team on
the regional stage.
